Lyman Campbell was born in Tioga County, New York in January of 1834. Caroline Hartwell Campbell was born in Genesse County, New York in November 1833.
As a young child Lyman moved west to Ohio with his family, then they moved on to Wayne County, Indiana; Nauvoo, Illinois and Holt County, Missouri. The family moved to Council Bluffs in 1854 where Lyman stayed for the rest of his life. Caroline's family also lived in Holt County, Missouri. In August of 1856 Caroline and Lyman were married in Council Bluffs.
Lyman Campbell enlisted in the service in 1864 and served with Company B, Thirteenth Iowa Infantry.
Lyman and Caroline farmed in Pottawattamie County, their last farm being located in Hardin Township.
Caroline and Lyman had six children; George, Almeda, Joseph, Lyman Everett, Robert and Caroline Almira.
Caroline Campbell died February 12, 1891 and Lyman Campbell died September 16, 1902. They are buried in the Keg Creek Township Cemetery.
