Council Bluffs, IA - Omaha’s new streetcar is well on the way to becoming a reality,
but it will not be the first streetcar system Omaha has had.
Eric Miller, a senior transit planner at Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig, will present the
engaging history program, exploring the Omaha and Southern Interurban Railway.
This obscure suburban streetcar line, part of the Omaha and Council Bluffs Railway
and Bridge Company, operated from 1906 to 1931 between South Omaha and Fort
Crook via Bellevue. Miller will share insights on the project’s background, its
construction, operations, exact route, reasons for closure, and the transit service
that replaced it.
Don’t miss this fascinating look into a unique piece of local transit history on
Monday, November 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Council Bluffs Public Library.
Presented by Eric Miller.
