Voices of Native American Women-Native Women's Oratory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: OCTOBER 17, 2024

Council Bluffs, IA — On Monday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m., Council Bluffs Public Library will host historian Nancy Gillis of Walthill, Nebraska for her program “Voices of Native American Women: Native Women’s Oratory.”

Gillis describes this program as “a collection gathered from Native American women spanning from the late 1600’s to the present speaking on relationships, governance, land, and cultural issues.”

This presentation is a combination of both history and present-day and includes real-life excerpts from these women in their own words in order to give voice to the courage embodied by Native American women.

Nancy Gillis, who is of Cherokee/Choctaw descent, is an educator, scholar, and independent historian who has dedicated much of her research, time, and passion into Native American culture, history, and way of life.

This event will be in Meeting Room B at the library. It is free and open to the public.
