So what is the Cochran Library Kiosk going to look like? The machine that will be installed the end of June is from a company called Envisionware. This machine is an automated dispensing machine similar to a vending machine for snacks or drinks, but instead of food, this machine will dispense library books! These machines are all over the world and focus on providing access in places where lots of people frequent, but there is not space to add a building or it doesn’t make financial sense to have a person work all day because the influx of people varies widely.
Our machine will look similar to the picture and work very much like any other vending device you have encountered. You will enter your library card, put in your selection, and the item will be dispensed to you. It is that simple!
