1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a self-paced program for children from birth until they begin kindergarten. This program promotes creation of reading habits and caregiver-child bonding through shared reading.

The Carnegie style building of the Council Bluffs Public Library was feeling the strain of becoming a modern library.  Bond measures for a new library failed to pass in 1980 and 1991.  In 1994 it was time to try again.

The library has added a new pass to our Discovery Pass program! The Kiewit Luminarium is our newest partner and pass available to reserve for adult library patrons. Here’s how you can qualify to reserve a pass to the Luminarium:

Beginning with any current items checked out on your library card that are due on July 1, 2023, the library will automatically renew items that are eligible for renewal. Items with a due date prior to July 1, 2023, will be not be considered for the new auto renewal procedure.
